At 7 a.m., sharp, Wednesday, May 4, the Jackson South Level II Trauma Center opens for the first time. This life-saving, full-service, around-the-clock trauma center will have immediate access to the cutting-edge resources of Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial.
The provisional Level II trauma center’s medical staff will be led by expert trauma surgeons from UHealth – the University of Miami Health System, and will also include a number of proven specialty physicians from the South Florida community.

The dedicated trauma bays will be housed inside Jackson South’s renovated emergency room, and will be accessible to fire rescue crews by ground transportation, as well as air rescue landings on the helipad atop the ER. A high-speed elevator will move patients rapidly into the trauma center.

Media is invited to tour the new center on its opening day.
