Overview

The P.E.T. Center, operated by Jackson Health System and the Miami-Dade County Department of Health, is committed to the well-being and health of its community. Our mission is to provide prevention, education and treatment of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases to the infected/affected population of Miami-Dade County, including the elderly.

Our focus is on early intervention of the disease followed by primary care services to include medical care, dental care, case management, nutritional services and psychiatric care. The center facilitates referrals to Jackson Memorial Hospital and other Ryan White Part A providers for specialized services, as needed.

Services & Specialties

Primary care will be provided by a physician who specializes in the care of HIV spectrum disease. Evaluation and treatment begins within two weeks after your initial intake visit. If you become ill prior to your scheduled appointment, please call us to be seen as an immediately. "Walk-in" appointments are available as needed.

Our experienced case managers/social workers will ensure that qualified clients have access to all social services offered in the community, such as food and transportation vouchers, medication, housing, legal assistance, etc.

  • Nutritional Counseling
  • Psychiatric Care
  • Adherence Counseling
  • Dental Care
  • Testing for Sexually Transmitted Diseases
  • Anonymous HIV Testing
  • Confidential HIV Testing

Dental Care Services
Dental care is offered at the P.E.T. Health Center, focusing on clients who have HIV/AIDS. Maintenance of oral hygiene is essential, as teeth and gums are often the first location for opportunistic infections.

Nutritionist Services
As part of our goal to treat and educate our clients about living a healthier life with HIV/AIDS, the center has a certified nutritionist on staff. Good nutrition is vital in the treatment of HIV/AIDS.

New Clients

Initial appointments are scheduled at the patient's convenience. To schedule an appointment, please call 305-535-5540, extension 4101.

New clients must provide:

  • Photo Identification
  • HIV Test Results (viral load and Western Blot)
  • Documents verifying income, residency status and medical insurance such as: recent pay stubs, income tax returns, proof of benefits received, voter's registration, utility bills, mortgage/lease information, insurance card, proof of Medicaid/Medicare, etc.

The P.E.T. Center has no waiting list. We invite patients to walk-in or visit us and ask questions.

Patient Rights

Your rights and privacy are very important to us. No patient's medical records can be released to any person or organization without your authorization. To obtain a copy of your medical records, please complete a consent form and pay the $10 fee. This process takes three days.

Directions to the Prevention, Education & Treatment Center:

615 Collins Avenue
Miami Beach, FL 33139

From either I-95 North or I-95 South, take the exit to S.R. 836 East. Continue onto I-395 East. As the expressway comes to Miami Beach, continue onto North S.R. A1A North (which is also 5th Street on Miami Beach). Turn left (north) onto Collins Avenue. The clinic will be on the left.

Miami-Dade County bus routes C and K stop near the P.E.T. Health Center.

Hours of Operation

Monday through Friday
7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

If patients are admitted to a hospital for any reason, they can call a P.E.T. nurse 24 hours a day at 305-585-4200.
