Breast and Gynecologic Pathology Fellowship

The Breast and Gynecologic pathology fellowship is a one-year, ACGME-approved position designed to provide advanced in-depth training in breast and gynecologic pathology from three major institutions, including a multidisciplinary cancer center, tertiary care county and private hospitals, as well as multiple primary care satellite clinics. The breast/ gynecologic fellow will take on an active role in the clinical diagnostic rotations in the breast and gynecologic pathology specialties, including gynecologic cytopathology, and will rotate through the breast and gynecologic imaging services.

In addition, the curriculum includes core training in laboratory management and pathology informatics. Elective rotations are available with opportunities for clinical and translational research. The fellow is primarily responsible for the consultative services and the multidisciplinary clinical-pathological conferences for breast and GYN oncology. It is expected that he/she will participate in national meetings and submit at least one paper for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Applicants must be Board eligible or certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology or Anatomic Pathology.

Application Deadline
Applications should be submitted by October 31, 20 months prior to start date.

The fellows will rotate at University of Miami Hospital, Sylvester Cancer Center and Jackson Memorial Hospital. The core training includes an eight month rotation equally divided between Breast and GYN Pathology services and three months of elective time. Elective rotations include Frozen Section, Molecular Pathology, Breast Clinics and Imaging.

Board Exam Requirements

Educational & Other Experience
Fellows are expected to participate in at least one project resulting in a meeting presentation and subsequent publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Participation in all educational activities of the Pathology Department including didactic conferences, journal clubs, and grand rounds is expected.  Additionally, Fellows assist with the Pathology educational activities in the medical school.

The fellow will have one month elective to complete research projects.
