Miami, FL - The National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS) has elected Nicoletta B. Tessler, Psy.D., MBA, senior vice president and chief executive officer of Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital as a new member of its Board of Trustees.

Founded in 1933, NAPHS advocates for behavioral health, “representing provider systems committed to the delivery of responsive, accountable, and clinically effective prevention, treatment and care for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults with mental and substance use disorders.”

A licensed psychologist, Dr. Tessler was chosen in 2014 to lead Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital, one of the largest and most comprehensive public-academic psychiatric programs in the United States. She is responsible for the executive oversight for clinical, operational, and financial affairs at the hospital and its team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, counselors, therapists, mental health specialists, and case managers. Dr. Tessler has been a part of Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital’s management team since 2009 and is also a voluntary professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

“Participating on the NAPHS board will allow me to spend time critically thinking and aligning strategic imperatives and priorities to benefit the future state of healthcare,” said Dr. Tessler. “I am eager for the opportunity to be surrounded by other individuals who are enticed by strategic thinking, and look forward to working with a high-performing board determined and committed to making a difference in behavioral healthcare.”

Dr. Tessler began her three-year term to the NAPHS board on January 1, 2016.
