Holtz Children's Hospital
Working in affiliation with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, the Chaplin Family Pediatric Emergency Room is staffed with specially trained medical professionals skilled in treating pediatric patients. Upon arrival, children are seen either in the order of the acuity of their illness/injury or in the order of their arrival. If a child needs additional treatment, they are admitted to Holtz Children’s Hospital immediately.
We also have a pediatric transport team for children through the Aeromedical Transport Service, which provides regional air ambulance transport from other hospitals and Emergency Medical Service organizations within a 200-mile radius of Miami, including the Bahamas. This allows children who are traveling in the Caribbean or are not near downtown Miami, access to Holtz. The helicopters are equipped with a state-of-the-art critical care unit with crew and equipment capable of providing continuity of care en route for critically ill children.

Jackson North Medical Center
Jackson North Medical Center's emergency care center provides comprehensive emergency care for the communities of North Miami.
Jackson North's emergency physicians are also vital members of the Jackson North stroke team. In 2008, Jackson North Medical Center became recognized as a Primary Stroke Center by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and The Joint Commission, a national accrediting body.
Then in August 2009, Jackson North was verified to be in compliance with AHCA’s guidelines to provide Percutaneous Coronary Interventional (PCI) services. Jackson North staff demonstrated that they could facilitate a patient’s “door-to-balloon” time that was better than the national recommended time frame.
In July 2011, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue approved Jackson North as a STEMI-receiving facility, only the 13th such facility in the county. STEMI means “ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction,” and this approval makes us part of a heralded STEMI network that has been proven to reduce disability and death with a “heart attack to recovery time” that is significantly below the national average.
Jackson North Medical Center also features a separate "Kidz Room" for pediatric emergencies.
