The Pediatric Orthopaedic Service at Holtz Children’s Hospital is run by Dr. Stephen Stricker, who has more than 20 years of experience caring for children with musculoskeletal problems. Surgical and nonoperative care is available for children (age 17 years or less) who have orthopaedic problems.

This laboratory operates in conjunction with the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. It acts as an independent testing facility in addition to conducting research. The laboratory has developed a number of standardized models to test new device designs, surgical procedures and instrumentation. Tests and consultation are provided on a fee-for-service basis.
This service provides orthopaedic evaluation, independent medical evaluations, second opinions and court-appointed disability evaluations.
The UM Tissue Bank is one of the largest bone and soft tissue banking facilities in the United States. This tissue bank has been a leader in the development of massive osteoarticular bone allografts and intercalary bone transplants in various procedures of reconstructive orthopaedic surgery. Massive bone allografts are used successfully in tumor surgery and also employed in revision arthroplasties. Other applications of bone grafting are performed in spine and sports medicine surgery, tissue for periodontal and maxillofacial surgery and skin for burn victims. The tissue bank offers consultation for surgeons in the selection of bone allografts.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common cause of numbness and pain in the hand and wrist. Those suffering from CTS are in “good hands” at the Miami International Hand Surgical Services, a division of Jackson Health System located at Jackson North Medical Center (JNMC).
Led by nationally recognized hand surgery expert Elizabeth Anne Ouellette, M.D., M.B.A., the center offers treatment and services for all hand-related medical issues. Dr. Ouellette has developed innovative techniques for the treatment of wrist instability and has expertise in the areas of limb reconstruction, nerve impairment surgery, joint ligament stability surgery and joint replacement.
