Sleep Services

One in ten adults suffers from sleep-disordered breathing, a common but potentially fatal sleep disorder. Obstructive sleep-disordered breathing syndrome causes an increased risk of hypertension (even mortality), is associated with increased frequency in people with strokes and heart attacks, and causes an increased risk of automobile and work-related accidents.

Sleep apnea is a disorder characterized by abnormal pauses in breathing or instances of abnormally low breathing during sleep. An individual with sleep apnea is rarely aware of having difficulty breathing, even after they wake up. Sleep apnea is recognized as a problem by others witnessing the individual during episodes or is suspected because of its effects on the body.

Symptoms may be present for years without being identified, during which time the sufferer may become conditioned to the daytime sleepiness and fatigue.

Contact your physician for a referral and ask for a sleep study to be done at Jackson South.
