The Miami Transplant Institute is a major center for heart transplants and ventricular assist device (VAD) implantations. The story began almost 30 years ago when our specialists performed their first heart transplant. Today, we perform 30 to 40 heart transplants and VAD procedures annually for adult and pediatric patients, and to date, we’ve performed 775 total. Our heart transplant program consistently exceeds national benchmarks for its outstanding patient survival rates. MTI is also a VAD implantation leader, offering a variety of device options with excellent outcomes.
