As one of the largest pediatric transplant programs in the United States, the Miami Transplant Institute is able to provide the highest caliber of care at Jackson Health System's Holtz Children's Hospital.

Kidney Transplant

MTI performs 250 to 300 kidney transplants per year—more than any other program in the state of Florida and 25 to 35 kidney and pancreas transplants. A multidisciplinary team of medical professionals and patient advocates work together to increase access to transplantation and improve quality of life.

Kidney-Pancreas and Pancreas Transplant

MTI performs 20 to 30 simultaneous pancreas and kidney (SPK) and Pancreas alone transplants per year. A multidisciplinary team of medical professionals and patient advocates work together to increase access to transplantation and improve quality of life.

Liver Transplant

MTI performs approximately 120-140 liver transplants per year and 15-25 intestinal/multivisceral transplants. A multidisciplinary team of medical professionals and patient advocates work together to increase access to transplantation and improve quality of life.

Intestinal and Multivisceral Transplant

MTI is the only center in the state to perform 15 – 20 intestinal and multivisceral transplants per year. A multidisciplinary team of medical professionals and patient advocates work together to increase access to transplantation and improve quality of life.

Heart Transplant and Ventricular Assist Device Program

The Miami Transplant Institute (MTI) is considered one of the leading transplant centers in the world with a major role in heart transplant and ventricular assist devices (VAD).  We are recognized leaders in the development of left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) that can either be used to prolong life while waiting for organ availability or as a destination therapy for patients who are not eligible for transplantation.

Lung and Heart-Lung Transplant

The Miami Transplant Institute (MTI) is considered one of the leading transplant centers in the world with a major role in Lung transplant and Heart-Lung transplant.  MTI is a collaborative endeavor between Jackson Memorial Hospital and University of Miami Health System/Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine.

Bone Marrow Transplant

The Sylvester/Holtz Children’s Pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Program is the only academic based pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplant program in the region, giving patients access to leading-edge research and treatment methods. As the only continuously FACT accredited pediatric program in South Florida, we serve patients facing a wide spectrum of diseases including childhood cancers, sickle cell disease, and hemophilia, amongst others.

Angel's Miracle

Angel Lopez

Angel Lopez had a lot of time to contemplate his condition as he waited for a liver transplant. He spent his time finding peace and healing through his love for music. After a successful transplant, Angel is grateful for his new chance at life and continues to compose music and play his ukulele.
